Arc Iris - Moon Saloon

Arc Iris - Moon Saloon

Frank Ocean's new record is great, but for me, this is the masterpiece that came out this week.

Arc Iris's self-titled debut was one of the most criminally underrated records of 2014, but I think she's topped it with this one. This album is hugely inventive, incredibly dense and complex, and maybe just a little bit insane. It's nearly perfect.

Honestly, the only (somewhat) legitimate criticism I can imagine is that her influences are a bit too apparent. There are a few moments on here that remind me of Joanna Newsom. And for everyone of those, there are moments that remind me of classic art-pop like XTC or the Beatles.

But it doesn't matter, because there are tons of moments that remind me of nobody and nothing, and completely blew me away.

Very strong recommend, if this isn't in my top 10, we will have had some very strong fall releases.
