Beach House - Depression Cherry
Beach House - Depression Cherry
Beach House’s last two records were both modern classics. For that reason, it might be easy to miss that Depression Cherry is a really damn good record. Just maybe not a masterpiece.
The band seems to be splitting the difference between the minimalism of their first two records and the lush production of the last two, and while it doesn’t totally work all the time, they’ve come out with another solid release.
There are signs of innovation though. Sparks, the first single, shows a greater shoegaze influence than I think they’ve had before.
Anyway, it’s dreamy, intoxicating stuff.
