Grimes - Art Angels

On Art Angels, Grimes has dialed back the ethereal and atmospheric style she employed on Visions. In it’s place, she’s indulged both her weirder impulses and her deep pop sensibilities, crafting a record that is simultaneously experimental and approachable.

And it may be the best pop album of this year.

It’s definitely the best straight pop record I’ve heard since starting this blog. I’ve only had today to listen to it, so I’m still chewing on it. But I enjoyed it enough that I broke my usual rule about posting records on their day of release.
