Marissa Nadler is one of the triumvirate of ethereal sounding brunettes that I seem to get mixed up all the time. “Wait, is Nadler the one who does straight ambient music or is that Julia Holter? Oh right, that’s Julianna Barwick.”
I’m not saying they’re interchangeable (how could I? Julia Holter put out maybe the best record of 2015). They’re just easily confused - at least to me.
Marissa Nadler is the one that specializes in ghostly, melancholic folk songs. And this is one of her best collections yet.
