Cherry Glazerr - Apocalipstick

Cherry Glazerr - Apocalipstick

I remember listening to Cherry Glazerr's Haxel Princess back in 2014. It impressed me then, even if it was too ramshackle for me to call it a favourite. That seed of potential (namely, that of teenage frontwoman Clementine Creevy - who is the sole remaining member of that version of the band) has sprouted spectacularly. And the fruit of that plant is this toxically sugary, sweetly bitter, super fun record.

This music seems to be designed to give you emotional whiplash. Cool synths are layered under volcanic guitars, and Creevy's vocals are alternately tough and then tender. It has the snarl of punk rock, and the heightened emotion of pop.

It's exhilarating. And like I said: fun as hell.
