Daughter - Not To Disappear
Daughter - Not To Disappear
A definite improvement on their debut.
On If You Leave, Daughter’s preferred atmosphere of dense melancholy tended toward wallowing. On this record, there’s more focus on actually expressing that emotion outwardly. There’s no doubt that the songs are deeply felt on the first album, but it was sometimes difficult to feel with them.
That problem is solved on Not To Disappear. Better songwriting and composition across the board will tend to solve most problems. The vocals are more expressive, the melodies more tuneful, and the instrumentation is more polished.
If you’re in the mood for something sad and dreamy, you won’t go wrong with this record. Stream below.
