Methyl Ethel - Everything Is Forgotten

Methyl Ethel - Everything Is Forgotten

Sometimes I just want some well-made, lighthearted, feel-good pop music. Methyl Ethel's new record is perfect for satisfying that need, especially the first half. It's danceable, funky, with crackling synths, and a slight edge of psychedelia. The vocals are casually soulful and intriguingly androgynous. I could have sworn a woman was singing until maybe the fourth track.

There are a ton of hooks on this record, but the band also makes time for rhythm and atmosphere as the record goes on. Ultimately, it's just fun. And pretty under the radar, I hope I can turn a few people on to it.
