The School - Wasting Away And Wondering

The School - Wasting Away And Wondering

The School is a Cardiff based band whose sound is heavily influenced by the style of indie pop closely associated with acts from Glasgow (Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura). The Glasgow sound cribs a lot from early ‘60s pop, and The School have taken a double dose of that particular influence.

Taking cues from girl groups like the Shangri-La’s and the Ronettes, this record is full of big emotions expressed through classic pop song structures. But, there’s a level of sophistication in the instrumentation throughout the record that you only find on the best songs from that era.

It’s just a really fun listen for people who like classic pop. Doubly so for people who like the Glasgow sound. Listen to it.
