Thunderbitch - Thunderbitch

Thunderbitch - Thunderbitch

An energetic melange of blues, southern rock, and classic rock n’ roll all filtered through the raw vocal style of Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard.

This record is a really entertaining listen, it sometimes feels like a live show at a honky-tonk or a blues bar. The songs are great across the board and Howard’s vocals elevate them to even greater heights. She’s affecting a more rootsy vibe than she does for the Shakes, and it’s wonderful. The instrumentation is also excellent throughout, I especially like the guitar work on Closer.

Overall, it’s definitely worth a listen. Especially since it likely won’t get the same amount of attention as this year’s Alabama Shakes release (Sound & Color). They’re good companion pieces though.

Highlights: Leather Jacket • Closer • Very Best Friend
