Empress Of - For Your Consideration
On my first listen I guess I was hoping that this would sound more like Me, which remains my favourite Empress Of record.
But on a second listen, For Your Consideration has improved immensely. And honestly, it sounds more like Me than I initially thought. It still clearly bears the mark of Lorely Rodriguez’s distinctly restrained style of dance-pop. And even if she’s clearly angling for club hits, she can’t lose her trademark melodic style.
And the incorporation of Spanish language songs is more than welcome. Femenine is a great song, with a strongly sensual vibe and killer beat, and I hope it gets played in clubs everywhere.
A confident, mature collection from one of the best pop practitioners currently going. Strongly recommended.
