P.O.S. - Chill, Dummy
P.O.S. is a veteran of the underground rap scene, but he's new to me, so this is something of a discovery. From what I've read, this is an evolution of his sound to something a bit more contemporary. He's leaning heavily on more electronic textures and techniques, the production jumping from ambient to glitch to industrial. Lots of drone and echo.
The rapper himself has a measured and articulated flow, which gives a sense of importance to his impassioned and indignant tone. He brings in more bombastic and energetic collaborators to complement his style. It makes nearly every song dynamic and effective.
Ultimately, it's a varied and conceptual album, with very few missteps. In a word: solid.
